Are you coming or what?

Here is Beau at Thetis Lake today. He was a bit impatient with me because I just couldn't keep up with him.

Stuck

Beau is looking pretty mellow here, but he's actually stuck. He gets around pretty well, and since he's been going to the dog park everyday he has really learned a lot about coordination from the other dogs, but sometimes he's still a puppy, getting himself in a pickle.

A Boy and his Dog #3

More from the same photo shoot. It's always interesting to see what pictures Will likes...this was one of his favorites. I like that it tells a story and shows what good buddies the two of them are.

A boy and his dog #2

Here is a silhouette of Beau and Will at Macaulay Point the other day. We spent a couple of hours exploring, actually Will and Beau explored and I followed taking photos. So there will be a few more photos from our wonderful sunny, warm, January afternoon at the beach and on the dock at the boat launch. Will is such a sport about me taking pictures...he really deserves an award for patience and cooperation!!!!

On the dock

Here is Beau running towards Will on the dock at Macaulay Point. Will is just a blur in the background. I was going for a very soft old fashioned feel to the photo. Don't you just love Beau's ears!!!

Beau looking like he is on steriods

Here is Beau sitting beside a coffee lid that he swiped off Michael's coffee cup. He's looking pretty buff in this photo but it is exaggerated by the angle of the camera. He's not a roly poly puppy.

Log dog

Here is Beau playing amongst the logs at the beach. It looks like he's in the water but he does his best to keep out of the water.....I'm sure that will change.

Is this a good sit?

JUST A DOG From time to time people tell me, "Lighten up, it's just a dog," or, "That's a lot of money for just a dog." They don't understand the distance traveled, time spent, or costs involved for "Just a dog." Some of my proudest moments have come about with "Just a dog." Many hours have passed with my only company being "Just a dog" provided comfort and purpose to overcome the day.

If you, too, think its "Just a dog," you will probably understand phrases like "Just a friend," "Just a sunrise," or Just a promise." Just a dog" brings into my life the very essence of friendship, trust, and pure unbridled joy. Just a dog" brings out the compassion and patience that makes me a better person. Because of "Just a dog" I will rise early, take long walks and look longingly to the future.

For me and folks like me, it's not "Just a dog." It's an embodiment of all the hopes and dreams of the future, the fond memories of the past, and the pure joy of the moment. "Just a dog" brings out what's good in me and diverts my thoughts away from myself and the worries of the day.

I hope that SOMEDAY people can understand it's not "Just a dog." It's the thing that gives me humanity and keeps me from being "Just a man or women."

So the next time you hear the phrase "Just a dog," smile, because they "Just Don't Understand.

Looking and listening

Beau is such a contemplative dog. He loves to stop, usually sit, and look and listen. Here he is fascinated by the ocean and his little ear is turned up.

Did someone say 'cookie'?

Here is Beau at Cairn Park in Esquimalt. That is Victoria in the background. If Beau wasn't a food driven dog I'd have no good pictures of him.

I can't find my stick!

This shot is out of focus but I love it.....Beau came bounding out of the grass without his stick all in a tizzy.

Me and a dog named Seamus

Seamus is a 9 month old Lab. Beau and Seamus had a play date Saturday afternoon at Beaver Lake and then we meet with Seamus's trainer, Heather. Beau just couldn't keep up with S. and Michael and I had to wonder if we're in for that kind of energy with Beau...we're hoping not!!!!!

4 months today

Here is Beau at exactly 2 months and 4 months. He's growing so fast we can almost see the changes daily. It feels like we've had Beau forever, I can't believe it's only been 2 months. I'm sure it comes as no surprise that we think the world of him!

I love my walks

"A dog is one of the remaining reasons why some people can be persuaded to go for a walk."
    -O. A.

This picture is taken on the West Bay walkway only a block from our house. It's a staple route for Beau and always a beautiful walk, rain or shine. Here's Beau taking a breather.

Playing with Maya

Here is Beau having a ball with Maya. Beau is pretty new to the dog parks because he had to have all his shots first...well he's lovin it and socializing with all the dogs. Not all the dogs like puppies but it's fine with him he just moves on looking for his favorite doggie friend Maya. Maya looks ferocious but she's actually so sweet and gentle.
